The ingredients needed to make Bobotie:
  1. Take 550 g Mince meat
  2. Get 1 large onion, finely chopped
  3. Get 1 cup milk
  4. Prepare 2 slices white bread
  5. Prepare 2 TBS peach chutney
  6. Prepare 1 extra large egg
  7. Take 1/2 TBS curry powder
  8. Take Salt and black ground pepper, for taste
  9. Take Oil for frying
  10. Take leaves Bay
Instructions to make Bobotie:
  1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees and lightly grease oven dish.
  2. Heat oil in the pan and fry onion until soft. Add mince, fry until it's brown.
  3. Soak bread into milk and squeeze the access milk from the bread. Add the bread to the mince mixture, while you put your milk aside. Stir in chutney, curry powder, salt and pepper.
  4. Add the mixture to the baking dish and bake for 30 minutes.
  5. In the meantime whisk the reserved milk, egg and salt. Pour in the baking dish and put bay leaves on top of the milk mixture.
  6. Return bobotie to the oven to bake until top is golden brown. About 25 - 30 minutes. Serve with yellow rice.
